Renewable raw materials are becoming increasingly relevant as an alternative to fossil based materials.
Based on a classic seat shell geometry, different material combinations and processes are tested for their suitability and properties; not only for chairs, but generally for structurally srelevant 2-fold curved components.
The challenge lies in achieving the highest possible “grown” percentage of the used materials.
The Growing Chair concept was developed together with the Pädagogische Hochschule Tyrol as a curriculum module for pupils and students and is intended to provide a low-threshold introduction to the complex topic of renewable raw materials.
Warm-up on a scale of 1:6 and main project on a scale of 1:1 provide coherent and exciting content.
